FACTORY output shrunk by less-than-expected in September, indicating the sector was on the mend although the recovery was expected to be slow.

Stats SA said yesterday manufacturing output shrunk by 11,4percent year-on-year in volume terms in September.

"This is confirmation that we have seen the worst in the current slump," said Thebe Securities economist Monale Ratsoma. - Reuters
