BOXING commentator Dumile Mateza and dethroned SA lightweight holder Jasper Seroka could be in trouble with Boxing SA following their inappropriate commentaries after Seroka lost the title to Sipho Taliwe at the weekend.

Judges Amos Lusenga, Sazi Xamlashe and Tony Nyangiwe all scored that fight unanimously in favour of Taliwe.

Boxing SA's acting CEO Loyiso Mtya is livid over Mateza and Seroka's live comments on national television that Seroka was robbed.

"I have written to Dumile's bosses at the SABC. I am disgusted by his comments," said Mtya, a former boxing commentator, who followed the action on television.

"People at home believe every word uttered by commentators because they see them as experts.

"Mateza misled the nation by openly saying that Seroka was robbed, and this boxer made it worse during his interview when he said judges were bought.

"Dumile has never been trained as a referee or judge. In fact, I wonder if he was ever trained to be a commentator".

Mtya made it clear that if Mateza wanted to be a referee or a judge, "he must come to us. We will train him and he must then be a judge, not do both.

"Dumile also questioned the decision by referee Tony Nyangiwe for stopping the fight between Ronald Parks and Funisani Monta, who collapsed just after the stoppage.

"He said no punch landed, so Nyangiwe should not have stopped the fight. Look what happened to Monta, who had to be taken to hospital."

Monta was due to be discharged yesterday.

"Imagine had Nyangiwe not stopped it and Parks had continued throwing punches. We would be telling a different story today."

Mtya said Seroka could be suspended: "He dared (say) that the judges were bought. He must prove it. Sipho won that fight fair and square.

"There will be no review or rematch. Seroka must wait in the queue like other boxers - period."
