"Nelson Marole, 25, was given R5000 bail when he appeared in the Nelspruit magistrate's court. He will appear again on December 9," said Captain Leonard Hlathi.
Marole allegedly distributed pamphlets in July stating that government wanted to recruit and train 15000 new officers. Hlathi said 32 people who responded to the adverts later received messages instructing them to deposit R200 in an Absa account. After depositing the money, the group was told to wait for a bus to pick them up on September 7 but it never arrived. Marole was arrested last Thursday when he tried to withdraw money from the account. - Sapa
