Year ends with great entertainment

THE STATE Theatre in Pretoria is set to close its 2009 calendar on a high note with its Annual Mzansi Fela Festival.

The 12-day event that features music, dance, drama, comedy and poetry takes place at the theatre in various venues. It begins on December 1 with a march from the Union Buildings to Lilian Ngoyi Square, where Chomee, Pantsula and Gumboot dancers will entertain theatre-lovers.

The theater goers will be dazzled by Phillippa Yaa de Villiers' Original Skin on December 2 at the Momentum Theatre. On Thursday December 3 Dithabaneng Primary School will be showcasing Amount of Tears at the Momentum Theatre.

The same day a dance piece, Threads by Sylvia Magogo Glasser and Lebo Mashile, will be performed at the Momentum Theatre.

Ringo Madlingozi, who was part of the event last year, is back on December 4 at the Drama Theatre. On December 5 it will be Thandiswa Mazwai who will shine alone on stage at the Drama Theatre.

Gospel lovers won't be left out this time since Keke Phoofolo will grace the event with his show on December 6 at the Opera Theatre.

Umshado, a play by Kenneth Bogosi, will be performed on December 8 at the Arena. On December 9 at the Momentum Theatre The Coat by Athol Fugard will be staged.

The Comedy show starts on December 10 at the Momentum Theatre, featuring Kedibone Molaudzi, Ntosh Madlingozi, Mel Miller, Sifiso Nene and Chris Forrest.

HHP and Rhythmic Elements will share the stage on December 11 at the Drama Theatre.

All tickets for musical shows cost R70 and R36 for plays .
