Modesty noble

MANY will concur with Deputy Minister of Transport Jeremy Cronin's sentiment that no politician is above the law - least of all ANC Youth League president Julius Malema, who is accused of remonstrating with traffic officers who stopped him for alleged speeding.

Most perturbing about this episode is how the traffic officers concerned were left in the lurch by their own bosses, who seemed to have gotten cold feet soon after realising who was behind the wheel.

This is unacceptable. We hope Cronin will get to the bottom of this and censure all those involved.

Surely Malema should know better than to cultivate an aura of untouchability around himself.

Malema should take his cue from American philosopher Benjamin Franklin, who once said: To be humble to superiors is duty, to equals courtesy, to inferiors nobleness.
