Arrows, Celtic set for thriller

SOCCER fanatics will be treated to a humdinger of a match when two teams playing the most entertaining football in the league, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic, clash today.

SOCCER fanatics will be treated to a humdinger of a match when two teams playing the most entertaining football in the league, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic, clash today.

The match takes place at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban, starting at 3.30pm.

Abafana Bes'thende and Celtic are known for dishing out township-style soccer, blended with skill and inter-passing and full of running.

And with Arrows having received a tumultuous welcome when they arrived back in KwaZulu-Natal with their MTN8 trophy, this match is going to be a cracker.

"Now that the cup fever is over, we can fully focus on the championship," said Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi.

"We stand a very good chance of winning. But it's going to be a tough assignment for us. Celtic are playing good football, but so are we.

"Our aim is to play in three finals and challenge for the championship. One trophy is in the bag already, so our plan is still intact."

Celtic manager Khumbulani Konco said though they expect a tough match in Chatsworth, they have players "who can fight anywhere".

The visitors will miss the suspended Cecil Oerson and Johannes Motlhaping.

The hosts should closely monitor Prince Olomu, who is on top of his game.
