THE ANC Youth League has called on the government to pump another R1billion into the newly established National Development Agency.

THE ANC Youth League has called on the government to pump another R1billion into the newly established National Development Agency.

Earlier this year former finance minister Trevor Manuel allocated R1billion to the agency which is a merger between the National Youth Commission and Umsombovu Youth Fund.

The ANCYL says the initial R1billion was for setting up offices in 283 municipalities and now a further R1billion is needed to "fund youth entrepreneurs".

The ANCYL has also expressed its disappointment on Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan for not making any allocation for youth development in his medium-term budget policy statement.
