PE bidding for Bafana friendly

THE Nelson Mandela municipality has made Safa an offer to host the November 14 international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Japan at the new stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Safa has announced that the match will be played at Rand Stadium on the same day after it was moved from the original venue, Orlando Stadium, after complaints about the state of the pitch , which is being repaired .

Sowetan has learnt that a Safa delegation flew to Port Elizabeth on Friday to inspect the facilities, including the new Nelson Mandela Sport Complex.

The municipality's offer is believed to be around R800000, which includes flights, luxury buses, accommodation and training facilities.

Safa chief executive Raymond Hack said they would make an announcement today regarding the offer from Port Elizabeth.

l Reappointed Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira will land in the country on Friday.
