MILAN - Inter Milan surged seven points clear at the top of Serie A after Diego Milito and Maicon struck to seal a 2-0 win at lowly Livorno yesterday.

The champions were able to extend their advantage after joint-second Sampdoria could only draw 0-0 at home with Bari, a day after Juventus were beaten 3-2 by Napoli.

Argentina striker Milito fired into the corner just after the break and Brazil right-back Maicon settled matters late on. AS Roma ended their bad run with a 2-1 comeback win at home to Bologna. - Reuters
