Utaf met for the first time yesterday since the BRT was launched on August 31.
They vowed to continue to pressurise the Johannesburg metro council to explain how the BRT will benefit them.
A man from the audience suggested that they should invite Malema. He said Malema usually did not speak in vain.
At the press conference later, Utaf spokesperson Joe Mophuting said the Malema issue was raised by somebody from the floor but could be considered.
Utaf said they would revert to their lawyers to seek advice on how to take the matter further.
The forum launched an urgent court application before the launch of BRT. The application was thrown out after the judge ruled that the matter was not urgent.
Taxi operators conceded that the BRT has taken a huge chunk of their business. They said daily takings, where BRT buses operate, have declined drastically.
They said they were planning to take the fight nationally. They referred to a mass meeting held in Cape Town at the weekend in which taxi operators and civic society came together to denounce BRT.
Joburg council head of transport Lisa Seftel declined to comment.
