FOR the community of Free State, rugby has always been a white man's sport but with the transformation in the union they are likely to make the Cheetahs their second side.
"The transformation is a good thing but it will require a lot of work," said Michael Jacobs, 34. "The players have to excel in what they do and show some results. Black people are now accommodated and it's a great thing."
Luvuyo Reya, 31, from Batho location in Mangaung, said black people were now given first preference.
"It's a good thing. With the transformation in Cheetahs, people are now most likely to shift their concentration from focusing on one sport (soccer) and enjoy rugby."
Lonea Matlave, 26, loves rugby.
"I love the idea of having black people in the game. It means they are recognised the same way that white players are. We will support the Cheetahs. Black brothers are being given an opportunity of a lifetime and should use it wisely."
Boitumelo Motlhodi, 20, said: "This thing of rugby being a white man's game is now in the past. We are proud of Cheetahs and will continue to support them."
