2 women lured with jobs, raped

KWAZULU-NATAL police are investigating two cases where women lured with promises of jobs were then raped.

In both incidents the victims were approached by a woman who promised them jobs two weeks ago and lured them to isolated spots after being blindfolded. They were then raped.

One of the victims is recovering at a Durban hospital.

She lives in Folweni and, according to police, was kidnapped from Durban and driven to Empangeni on the North Coast where she was gang-raped throughout the night.

Her brother said his sister was still traumatised. She was, however, becoming stable.

She managed to free herself and escape the next day. She told police she saw two corpses lying in the place where she was held. Her attackers had guns.

In another incident being investigated by Durban Central police, a 17-year-old girl was promised a job in Isipingo by an Indian woman.

Instead, she was taken to Port Shepstone and raped. She too told police that she saw two headless bodies at the spot where she claimed to have been raped.
