TEACHERS and pupils at Overport Secondary School in Durban remained tight-lipped after criminals stabbed a pupil at the school yesterday.

The pupil had resisted being mugged on the school premises.

The Grade 11 pupil is in a critical condition in hospital after the ruthless robbers who were after his cellphone stabbed him twice.

Two men entered the school and forced one of the pupils to hand them his cellphone.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said: "It is alleged that the boy was approached by two men within the school premises.

"The victim told us that the two men tried to rob him and when he resisted they stabbed him twice."

The pupil was treated by paramedics at the school before being transported to Addington Hospital.

Education department spokesperson Mbali Thusi said they were investigating the incident to get more information. -Siyabonga Mhlongo
