Comrades Marathon entries close at 15000 mark

ENTRIES for the first phase of the 2010 Comrades Marathon closed yesterday after the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) received its 15000th entry.

ENTRIES for the first phase of the 2010 Comrades Marathon closed yesterday after the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) received its 15000th entry.

Runners who posted their entry forms by close of business yesterday, postmarked by the Post Office, will still be accepted.

CMA chief executive Gary Boshoff said the great response from runners "is indicative of the strength of the Comrades brand and the special place the Comrades Marathon occupies in the local, as well as global, sport arena. We are, however, mindful of the thousands of disappointed runners that have missed the cutoff. There will be many more opportunities".

Entries open for novices at 9am on Sunday and will close either on November 30 or when 5000 entries have been received. - Sapa
