"BLADE RUNNER" Oscar Pistorius, soapie star Mmabatho Montsho and Comrades Marathon legend Bruce Fordyce are among the famous faces coming to Turffontein Racecourse for the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile on Saturday November 7 when participating charities will benefit by R550000.

The Charity Mile is a glorious event that brings together top racehorses, famous people and corporate sponsors in aid of charity. It's a normal horse race in every sense. What's special is that each runner also races on behalf of a charity and its finishing position determines how much the charity wins.

To add to the excitement, each runner has a corporate sponsor and is publicly represented by a celebrity. This year's event is being sponsored by hospitality and gaming company Peermont and Emperors Palace, a hotel, casino and convention resort and one of 14 properties operated by Peermont.

A total of R550000 will be given away to the 16 participating charities.

The charity of the winning horse gets a massive R100000 and emotions will run high as the runners drive to the line in the final moments of the race.

Other celebrities coming to the Charity Mile are rapper Lebo "Shugasmakx" Mothibe, an actor and entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and star of iconic local hip-hop brand Skwatta Kamp, DJ Jazzy D, who has become famous for doing remixes of past and current dance-floor hits, and former WBA and IBF Super Featherweight champion Brian Mitchell. The ballot that will determine the horse that will represent each charity will take place at 64@The Palace tomorrow.

Here's the breakdown of prize money to the charities (should a runner be withdrawn, the relevant charity gets R20 000): 1st - R100000; 2nd - R70000; 3rd - R50000; 4th - R40000; 5th - R30000; 6th - R29000; 7th- R28000; 8th - R27000; 9th - R26000; 10th - R25000; 11th - R25000; 12th - R20000- 13th - R20000; 14th - R20000; 15th - R20000; 16th - R20000.
