That was how Titans captain Pierre Joubert saw the new MTN40 that was launched at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg yesterday.
The new competition introduces several changes in addition to the reduction of overs from 45 to 40 a side. One of the innovations is the introduction of rolling substitutions.
The new format provides for all 12 members of a squad to be entitled to bat, bowl and field. The 12th man can be brought onto the field at any time, and taken off again when he is no longer needed.
"The only limitation is that we need 11 players on the field, and all people to bat," explained Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola.
"I think it is better than the concept of playing two 20-over innings, which had been suggested ," Joubert said. - Sapa
