BOXING guru and promoter Branco Milenkovic says history could repeat itself this weekend when his charge Evans Mbamba challenges Tomas Rojas for the WBC interim super flyweight title in Mexico.

Milenkovic said this was because Mbamba from Ekurhuleni had to make two trips to Mexico.

Mbamba and trainer Nick Durandt were there last month but flew back two days before the actual fight because of the tsunami in Veracruz.

"Let's hope this is a sign for success because my other fighter, Simphiwe Nongqayi, was arrested in Mexico before he fought for the IBF junior bantamweight title, which he won from that country's idol Jorge Arce last month," said Milenkovic yesterday. "I hope Mbamba will pull through because Vic Darchinyan, who holds both the WBC and WBA belts, has already been mandated to fight the winner between Mbamba and Rojas in America on December 12."

Mbamba is undefeated after 16 fights with eight KOs while Rojas has 31 wins (22 KOs), 11 defeats and a draw. Their fight will take place at the World Trade Centre in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, Mexico.

Gerald Ritter from Oklahoma will be the referee while William Boodhoo (Canada), David Sutherland (Oklahoma) and Burt Clemens (Nevada) will be judges.

Jaime Salas from Panama will be fight supervisor.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian Joseph Agbeko says there will be a KO when he defends the IBF bantamweight title against Colombian Yonnhy Perez, also on Saturday.

Agbeko is based in the Bronx, New York, while Perez fights out of Santa Fe Springs, California.
