An exclusive film on Jackson's life, This Is It, is due for release on October 28 at Ster-Kinekor cinemas worldwide.
About 18000 tickets have already been sold locally, eight days before its premiere. Locally, the film will be seen at cinemas in Fourways, Johannesburg, Gateway in Durban, Cavendish Square in Cape Town and Sterland in Pretoria.
Each screening will have a live satellite link to the Los Angeles premiere of This is It. It will also include plenty of other thrills.
The 112-minute movie will offer Jackson fans and music lovers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the performer rehearsing for concerts that would have taken place at London's O2 Arena.
