Creating a better life for all

PROOF of Sowetan's peerless and inimitable community development work is articulated by the Mama Angel campaign, writes Victor Mecoamere.

PROOF of Sowetan's peerless and inimitable community development work is articulated by the Mama Angel campaign, writes Victor Mecoamere.

Each week selfless individuals and their community organisations receive R5000 to continue their fine work in youth development, caring for the homeless, sickly, frail and vulnerable, particularly women and children.

Many companies, organisations and institutions have taken part in the corporate social investment and responsibility duty by teaming up with Sowetan on this fulfilling nation-building work.

This is because every little bit helps in encouraging, motivating and inspiring the unassuming community champions in early childhood development, welfare, youth development caring for vulnerable persons.

It is also because we know that one of the best ways of nurturing potential to excellence is in identifying the best and creating a conducive environment for its maturity, growth, development and blossoming.

All this is in line with Sowetan's nation-building manifesto:

Nation building means working for the development of our communities.

It is about promoting excellence and integrity, and striving for the best in all that we do for ourselves and our people.

It means promoting goodwill among all the people of our country.

It is about providing the champions of community development with the necessary skills and resources to do their work.

It is creating an efficient leadership and increasing the value and quality of all the inhabitants of our country. We are the champions of our destiny. Let us, therefore, promote goodwill among all South Africans and work for a bright future for ourselves and our children.
