Dispute at Safa region

THE Safa Gert Sibande region in Mpumalanga claims that Dan Soko and Willem Kgomo are not legitimate members of the executive committee of the region.

THE Safa Gert Sibande region in Mpumalanga claims that Dan Soko and Willem Kgomo are not legitimate members of the executive committee of the region.

This after the duo were part of the 30 regional structures that met at the weekend and resolved that the process of electing the current Safa leadership was flawed and that they do not recognise the current leadership headed by Kirsten Nematandani.

Soko and Kgomo allegedly attended the meeting as Safa Gert Sibande representatives.

Gert Sibande president Fanyana Sibanyoni said the duo were former administrators and were no longer recognised by the region.

"The Gert Sibande region has noted with interest the false claims lodged by former administrators Dan Soko and Willem Kgomo.

"Neither of them is not recognised since they are not part of the Safa Gert Sibande region and the various local football associations (Lekwa and Govan Mbeki) that they claim to come from.

"So any claims that are made by these two that they are representatives of the Safa Gert Sibande region are false," he said.

Sibanyoni said he is the president of the region and was the one who voted during the Safa national elections on September 27

He said Soko and Kgomo were voted out as executive members of the region in 2006.

"We would like to distance ourselves from this matter (that the process of electing the current Safa leadership was flawed and that it is not recognised).

"And we state that Soko and Kgomo are not representatives of the region."
