ZOLANI Tete has joined the growing BK Sports stable of manager Butityi Konki.

Tete, the enormously talented prizefighter from Mdantsane, has dumped trainer Nick Durandt, who he joined in June after leaving the Eyethu Boxing Gym of manager-cum-promoter Mzimase Mnguni.

In that gym Tete's skills were honed by brothers Vuyani and Dudu Bungu, while Sihle Mnguni, Mzimase's younger brother, was his manager.

Tete never even donned a boxing glove under Durandt, who is in Mexico with Evans Mbamba for his challenge against Tomas Rojas for the WBC world super flyweight interim title on Saturday night.

Now he has rejoined the Bungu brothers who, with Welcome Ncita, hone the skills of Konki's fighters Philip Ndou, IBO bantamweight holder Simphiwe Vetyeka, SA flyweight holder Mfundo Gwayana, Manelisi Mbilase, Ali Funeka and Thembelani Maphuma.

Tete has a two-year deal with Branco Sports Productions (BSP). He will make his debut under BSP on November 20 when he fights Tanzanian Juma Fundi for the WBO Africa flyweight title at Wembley Arena.

Vetyeka will top that bill. Vetyeka and Ndou signed two-year deals with BSP and SABC last month.

Konki said his charges would fight under SABC in future, except for Funeka, who still has a contract with Mzimase, who works with SuperSport.

Konki described his new charges as "boys with great potential".

Gwayana will defend his SA flyweight title against Thabo Sishwane at Mdantsane Indoor Centre on Friday night. Funeka will fight American Joan Guzman for the IBF lightweight title in Montreal, Canada, on November 28.
