The Presidency said Zuma wanted an update on the state of service delivery in the country and was expected to chastise mayors responsible for municipalities torn apart by protests.
"The meeting follows previous service delivery improvement meetings that Zuma has been holding to improve dialogue and action within the public service," the Presidency said in a statement yesterday.
Zuma has met school principals across the country and has also met the top leadership of the police force.
His office said tomorrow's meeting sought to achieve Zuma's promise of "changing the way government performs its functions to ensure improved service delivery".
"Local government is one critical area that needs the intensive focus of all spheres of government," said Minister for Performance Management, Evaluation and Administration in the presidency Collins Chabane.
"The president has decided to take a more hands-on approach in dealing with this and all matters of service delivery," he said.
The high-level government delegation to tomorrow's meeting will include Chabane, as well as ministers Trevor Manuel, Pravin Gordhan, Tokyo Sexwale, Ebrahim Patel, Aaron Motsoaledi, Sicelo Shiceka, Dipuo Peters, Edna Molewa, Richard Baloyi, Jeff Radebe and Yunus Carrim.
The Presidency said the directors-general of most government departments would also attend the gathering.
"The president will also be joined by the nine premiers and MECs responsible for local government," the statement said.
