THE number of lives lost in South African mines since the beginning of the year has increased to 133 after two workers died on Friday.

THE number of lives lost in South African mines since the beginning of the year has increased to 133 after two workers died on Friday.

One miner died at Goldfields' Driefontein mine near Carletonville and another at Kangra Coal outside Piet Retief in KwaZulu-Natal.

By October last year, 145 lives had been lost and fatalities had risen to 171 by year end. - Kea' Modimoeng
