Most laudable is that the housing authorities have moved further than the disciplinary processes to force the implicated officials to sign acknowledgements of debt amounting to the same total figure allegedly fleeced from the department.
This is rather unusual since the authorities have been content in the past with only dismissing individuals without asking them to repay the embezzled funds.
We hope the authorities will see to it that the money is repaid .
