AJAX Cape Town have appointed Dutchman Foppe de Haan as their new coach from November 1.

AJAX Cape Town have appointed Dutchman Foppe de Haan as their new coach from November 1.

Ajax chairperson John Comitis confirmed yesterday that De Haan, 66, the former Heerenveen and Dutch Under-21 national coach, will take over from Turk Muhsin Ertugral, who unexpectedly resigned last week in favour of Turkish side Sivasspor. The Ajax job had attracted local and foreign coaches, among them Ernst Middendorp and former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberta Parreira.

"We needed someone who has international experience, has a proven track record and with pedigree. De Haan was the right choice because he has been through the excellent Dutch football system," Comitis said.
