KwaZulu-Natal police are trying to track down the source of the poisonous "vodka" that killed four people in Verulam and Lindelani in Durban this week.

Bhekithemba Luthuli , Siyanda Mofokeng and Nompucuko Ngalo died after drinking the brew, which they had bought for R50 a bottle from Sibusiso Langazane - who also died.

Police said yesterday they were following strong leads in tracing the source or the manufacturer of the deadly brew, but would not reveal more details, saying it would interfere with their investigations.

Superintendent Jay Naicker said the "vodka" had been sent for forensic analysis.
