Batau gun for away win

NATIONAL First Division upstarts Batau FC will go in search of their first away win when they visit Witbank Spurs at the Atlantic Stadium on Sunday.

The Mpumalanga derby will kick off at 3.30pm.

It will be the first time the two sides meet since Batau were promoted to the NFD at the beginning of the season.

Batau spokesperson Solomon Matsimela is confident his charges will prevail over Spurs.

"The team is well prepared and I'm confident about our chances. I think the worst result for us would be a draw," Matsimela said.

Batau, who have completed the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Thanda Royal Zulu midfielder Clement Mazibuko, have played very well at home, taking seven points from a possible nine. But they have failed to win any of their three away matches.

Spurs spokesperson George Khumalo said they are expecting a tough game from the rookies.

"They are a closed book to us but the boys are ready for them. We are eyeing maximum points to intensify our chances of a spot in the playoffs," he said.
