IT IS a sad time for me as I mourn the death of a dear friend, Vusi Mkhontwane.

IT IS a sad time for me as I mourn the death of a dear friend, Vusi Mkhontwane.

He was a dedicated teacher to his pupils, a mentor to new teachers and a responsible father and family man.

Mkhontwane, from Mohlakeng, Gauteng, dedicated most of his time to the church. He was a staunch member of the Methodist Church and sang in its choir.

I will miss his kindness. His family, friends and colleagues could always count on him. He loved life and people . He also had a great sense of humour.

There is no doubt that he will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his children.

For the teaching fraternity, there is no doubt that the man, affectionately known as Khonti or Mavusana, has left a lasting legacy of what a committed teacher should be like.

Mkhontwane will be buried tomorrow at the Greenhills cemetry .

The service will start in the Mohlakeng Methodist Church at 6.30am.
