THE Pumas changed their midfield and loose forward combinations for their First Division final against the Eagles at Witbank tomorrow night, with former Blue Bulls Under-21 captain Pieter Meyer getting his first start at this level.

Meyer, who has played off the bench lately, and expert fetcher Jaco Bouwer have been included on the side of the scrum with former captain Corné Steenkamp demoted to the bench.

Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse had to replace young gun Torsten van Jaarsveld, who broke his leg against the Elephants. Stonehouse has put his trust in veteran Hyron Thysse at inside centre with rugby Sevens expert Shaun Venter moving to outside centre. Regular outside centre-cum-flyhalf Tiaan Marx wasn't considered for this final, with only two backline players on the bench, Juan Visser and Ashwin Scott.

Bouwer and Ronnie Uys, who left the field against the Elephants, were cleared to play in Friday's final.

Pumas squad: MJ Mentz, Braam Pretorius, Shaun Venter, Hyron Thysse, Allister Ketteldas, Valentine van Wyk, Jacques Coetzee, Doppies le Roux, Pieter Meyer, Jaco Bouwer, Marius Coetzer, Eduaan van der Walt, Ashley Buys, Hannes Franklin, Ronnie Uys.

Reserves: Dee-Jay Terblanche, Dawie Steyn, Savage van Heerden, Corné Steenkamp, Martin Sithole, Juan Visser, Ashwin Scott. - Sapa
