Four in court for dealing in dagga

DAGGA smugglers and smokers were dealt a blow when police stormed their house in Charlestown, northern KwaZulu-Natal, and arrested four men.

The new police recruits received a tip-off about people dealing in dagga in the area on Monday. They then stormed the house and arrested four men.

The men appeared in Newcastle magistrate's court on charges of dealing in dagga and possession of an unlicensed pistol which was found in the house.

Siphiwe Khuzwayo, 39, and David Nkosi, 39, were allegedly found with packets of dagga bought at the Xulu homestead. Nompumelelo Xulu, 20, and Kwanele Xulu, 24, were found in possession of an unlicensed Z88 pistol in the house. Nkosi's case was, however, withdrawn by the court.

l Meanwhile, a single-engine aircraft crashed when a landing went awry at the Margate Airfield on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast yesterday morning.
