THE new Safa top brass are off to Cairo today to discuss the country's readiness for the 2010 World Cup finals.

The Safa delegation, led by new president Kirsten Nematandani, will be meeting Issa Hayatou, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) president.

Nematandani will be accompanied by two of the three Safa vice-presidents, Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana and Mandla "Shoes" Mazibuko.

Safa honorary life president, Molefi Oliphant, will introduce the new Safa leadership to Hayatou, who is also the Fifa 2010 World Cup Organising Committee chairperson.

"Dr Oliphant will introduce us to president Hayatou in Cairo on Thursday," Nematandani said yesterday.

Oliphant, who is still serving as Caf's deputy president, is in Egypt for meetings of the continental governing body.

This will be the second high-profile meeting for the new Safa leadership after they were invited for 2010 World Cup discussions with Fifa president Sepp Blatter in Zurich last Thursday.

Also present at the meeting initiated by Blatter was Irvin Khoza, who is the third Safa vice-president by virtue of being chairperson of the Premier Soccer League.

Safa will use the meeting to brief Hayatou on the latest developments in preparations for the 2010 World Cup finals.

"We will assure president Hayatou that we are still well on track in terms of the preparations. The plan is to deliver a successful World Cup," Nematandani said.
