INSPIRATIONAL Springbok scrumhalf Fourie du Preez, eighth man Pierre Spies and wing Bryan Habana have been included in the Blue Bulls starting line-up against Western Province on Saturday.

The trio, who missed last Friday's match against the Leopards in Rustenburg due to injuries, make a return for the all-important Absa Currie Cup semifinal at Newlands at 5pm.

After a press conference yesterday captain Victor Matfield said he was quite happy that most of their Springboks were back in camp, with the exception of hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle and wing Akona Ndungane.

"The guys have been working very hard in the training sessions this week and are in fine fettle. They are looking forward to a tricky and exciting away game against their opponents," Matfield said.

"Rain or no rain, we have learned over the last few seasons to adapt to any circumstances. We need to play for the full 80 minutes and we must continue to create try-scoring opportunities."

Du Preez resumes his halfback partnership with Morne Steyn while speedster Habana is back in his No 11 jersey in a back three with Zane Kirchner and Francois Hougaard.

Spies takes over from Danie Rossouw at No 8, with the utility forward dropping to the bench.

The Bulls squad: Zane Kirchner, Francois Hougaard, Jaco Pretorius, Wynand Olivier, Bryan Habana, Morne Steyn, Du Preez, Spies, Dewald Potgieter, Deon Stegmann, Matfield (captain), Bakkies Botha, Werner Kruger, Derick Kuun, Gurthro Steenkamp. Reserves: Bandise Maku, Rossouw de Klerk, Danie Rossouw, Pedrie Wannenburg, Heini Adams, Burton Francis, Gerhard van den Heever.

Meanwhile, Sapa reports that Lions hooker Hans van Dyk has been cited for allegedly biting Western Province flanker Francois Louw in their Absa Currie Cup match in Johannesburg on Saturday. He was cited by match commissioner Andy Prior after a review of video evidence. Van Dyk is out of the country. A date for the hearing will be set on his return.
