MOROKA Swallows' poor form so far this season has led to impatient club supporters calling for the head of coach Rainer Zobel.
The Dube Birds, who were once regarded as one of South Africa's big three clubs, are a disappointing 13th on the log.
After their last home defeat to an equally struggling AmaZulu, supporters started calling for a change in the club's technical team. But the message from the club is that they will soon turn the corner.
Club communications manager Siyabonga Sangweni has appealed for calm from the fans and added that the players have promised to start delivering.
"We had a meeting at our training ground in Germiston on Friday and the players were told in no uncertain terms that after our disappointing home defeat against AmaZulu, they have to pull up their socks," he said. "It's one thing to go down fighting, but when you lose without even putting up a fight, like against AmaZulu, that is totally unacceptable.
"But we are appealing to our supporters to rally behind the club during this difficult time and sooner or later we'll turn the corner.
"Our CEO, Leon Prins, and team captain Lefa Tsutsulupa also had a few words with the players and the message was that Moroka Swallows is a big club and our followers deserve far better than what they have been subjected to," Sangweni said.
He said Prins will meet the supporters at 2pm on Sunday at Dobsonville Stadium, before their clash with Maritzburg United, "to hear their grievances and let them know what efforts are being made to turn the the club around".
