THE City of Johannesburg says it will not reverse its decision to reinstate police chief Chris Ngcobo.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers tried to stop Ngcobo from reassuming his position last week when he returned to work after being cleared of allegations of corruption, misconduct and abuse of power.

About 100 of the 2000 unionised cops staged a sit-in.

But city spokesperson Gabu Tugwana said the decision was made by the highest decision-making body in the city and could not be reversed. - Katlego Moeng
