If taxis behaved metro cops would back off

DRIVING to work over Joburg's Queen Elizabeth bridge recently I saw empty taxis being pulled into a nearby rank by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department.

Later I learnt that the taxis had been inspected for roadworthiness and licence disks. It seems that in the run-up to the World Cup the JMPD is focussing on commuter safety. I am behind them 100percent but why does it take foreigners to prioritise commuter safety ?

And please, I don't want any moaning from taxi drivers. They brought this clampdown on themselves with their flagrant disregard for the laws of the road and needs of their customers. If they drove like normal people maybe the JMPD would focus elsewhere.
