DEFENDING champions the Sharks and Western Province will host this year's Absa Currie Cup semifinals in Durban and Cape Town on Saturday.

DEFENDING champions the Sharks and Western Province will host this year's Absa Currie Cup semifinals in Durban and Cape Town on Saturday.

The Sharks finished on top of the table with 54 points, four points ahead of second-placed Province .

Captain John Smith's Sharks welcome the Free State Cheetahs in the first semifinal at Kings Park Stadium in Durban at 2.30pm on Saturday.

In the second semifinal billed for Newlands on the same day, Province engage the Blue Bulls from Pretoria at 5pm.

The Premier Division's two relegated teams, the Leopards and the Boland Cavaliers, will feature in the promotion-relegation playoffs against the two top First Division sides.

The Leopards take on the SWD Eagles in Potchefstroom on Saturday while Boland engage the high-riding Pumas in Wellington on the same day.

The return games in the home and away format will be played on October 30 and the winners will gain automatic promotion to the Premier Division.
