NINE gang members linked to at least 10 bank robberies in Gauteng were arrested on their way to rob another bank yesterday.

The wanted men were arrested in Berea, Johannesburg.

Spokesperson for police Superintendent Eugene Opperman said: "Police received a tip-off that the men were going to rob Nedbank in Parktown.

"A group of policemen arrested the gang as they got into a kombi."

Police recovered one pistol that was stolen during a recent robbery at a business in Cleveland.

"We have been watching them like hawks. They will be charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and all the other 10 cases they are linked to.

"The positive thing is that no shots were fired during the arrest."

Police are continuing with the profiling of the gang.

The men are expected to appear in court soon.
