The money will offer grants, mentorship and training to 17 finalists who are competing for the top positions in the programme.
After being selected from more than 250 entries, candidates will take part in a two-week course entailing a wide spectrum of business skills.
A panel of six judges, all captains of industry in Durban, has scrutinised the business plans and interviewed each of the finalists, assessing their achievements.
Top four winners will receive grants to "kick-start" their businesses and will also compete in the national finals next year, where they stand a chance of winning further grants and mentoring.
Corporate Social Investment controller East Coast Region, Nqobile Hadebe, said this year's candidates offered services across a wide range of careers from catering, events organising, farming and beauty.
She said the programme was aimed at 18 to 35 year olds from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
