THE music line-up was brilliant, with international supergroup O'Jays and local acts rocking those in attendance - but the organisation of Macufe festival in Bloemfontein left a lot to be desired.

THE music line-up was brilliant, with international supergroup O'Jays and local acts rocking those in attendance - but the organisation of Macufe festival in Bloemfontein left a lot to be desired.

The performances by jazz guitarist Jimmy Dludlu, Afro-pop star Ntando and vocalist Letta Mbulu were stunning.

The attendance was quite impressive as fun lovers packed the venue. Revellers came from all over the country to feast on some of the best performances seen in recent months.

After spectacular performances by local artists the O'Jays took over the proceedings and were a marvel to hear and see.

They are in a class of their own.

But the sound system was terrible to say the least. Revellers, particularly those seated far from the stage, struggled to hear the music, and resorted to watching the proceedings on screens.

VIPs were treated shabbily as they were shunted from one marquee to the other as no one seemed to take responsibility for them.

Food, if served at all in the marquees, was served late - resulting in guests losing their patience and tempers flaring.

This poor organisation spoilt an otherwise very good Macufe festival. It was a good example of how not to treat guests.
