THE Mpumalanga education department says it is ready to ensure that the 2009 Grade 12 examinations begin and end without any problems.
"Plans are in place to ensure that the examinations run smoothly," departmental spokesperson Jasper Zwane said yesterday.
Three preliminary schedules for candidates' registration were sent to schools for validation and to effect any amendments on the system.
Registration closed on September 30 and only registered candidates will be eligible to write the examinations.
A total of 55888 full time and 2873 part-time candidates are registered for the National Curriculum Statement.
Zwane said printing of question papers was progressing well and that security measures have been intensified.
The examinations start on October26 and end on December4.
Marking will take place at 17 centres and the capturing of marks will be done offline at marking centres - and online at 4 cluster capturing centres.
Zwane said 3942 exam markers have been appointed and their appointment letters for markers will be issued on October15.
The final results of the 2009 examinations will be released on January7 2010 as decided by the Council of Education Ministers, Zwane said.
