Guest acts include popular Mafikizolo duo Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe, who are currently also entrenching separate solo careers.
Former guest acts included gospel music great Rebecca Malope, Afro soul singers Tsepo Tshola, Ringo Madlingozi and hip-hop exponent Tumelo "Tuks Senganga" Kepadisa.
The festival is on the Transnet Foundation's list of corporate social investment and responsibility projects. This includes the peerless Phelophepa, a community-based primary healthcare service on wheels that touches poor communities living near major railway routes.
This showcase is the pride of the string of nation-building project and programmes that were spearheaded by the late Sowetan editor in chief Aggrey Klaaste. He died in 2004 after having set an almost peerless trend as a visionary of goodwill, brotherhood, peace, cooperation and collaboration for the public good.
Nciza and Kgosinkwe will share the stage with 10 championship-winning calibre choirs to make this year's showcase a fitting festival of champions.
The champions are the Matthews Singers, Belcanto Voices, Gauteng Choristers, South African Police Service Choir and the Transnet Choir.
Other equally competent regulars are the Vaal Choristers, African Sweet Melodies, Mogale City Chorale and East Rand Chorale.
We will also be showcasing young soloists soprano Andiswa Makana, mezzo soprano Tina Mene and Ebenezer Sawuli.
In keeping with the project's established tradition, African music icon Mosoeu Michael Moerane will be honoured with the mass choir rendition of his timeless and beautiful piece, Ruri.
