Bright youth in rural areas disadvantaged

THE youth in the rural areas are still living on the last page of a novel when it comes to information.

The information there is so elusive that you struggle to find a copy of last week's newspaper. People in these areas still get excited about seeing a newspaper that is two years old.

While the youth in Gauteng receive bursaries and learnerships with mere C symbols, back in the rural areas they push wheelbarrows with someone's groceries for a small fee, to get them through the day though they had distinctions in matric.

It is hard to imagine how one can be so successful with just a C symbol, while others with far better symbols continue to struggle.
