JIMMY Manyi was re-elected president of the Black Management Forum in a highly-anticipated election yesterday.

The race for the presidency was between incumbent Manyi and vice-president of sales and marketing at Shell SA, Bonang Mohale, who withdrew his nomination at the last minute.

"I am humbled by the confidence displayed by members of the BMF. This puts a great responsibility on me to deliver and to ensure that the organisation goes from strength to strength," Manyi said.

Manyi was elected at the forum's annual general meeting, held a day before a two-day conference themed "The Paradox of Leadership in a Developmental State".

Topics to be discussed at the conference include the alignment of the school system with higher education and skills requirements of the economy, the significance of youth participation in society and meeting the social needs of a developing country during the global economic meltdown.

The conference will end with the BMF Annual Achievement Awards dinner, which will honour outstanding managers, companies, the forum's student chapters and recipients of the BMF Presidential Awards.
