SOUTH Africa's readiness for the 2010 World Cup will come under scrutiny at a Fifa and Local Organising Committee workshop in Midrand on October 13 and 14.

The two-day workshop will be attended by more than 80 delegates from local and global stakeholders involved in the 2010 World Cup.

They are from President Jacob Zuma's office, Safa, provincial governments, host cities, SA Tourism, Fifa commercial affiliates, Match, tourism and accommodation agencies.

Delegates will also discuss the challenges faced by the media during the 2009 Confederations Cup.

The workshop comes after a 50-member Fifa technical committee gave South Africa's overall preparations for the tournament a big thumbs up.

Danny Jordaan, chief executive of the LOC, said the committee was encouraged by the report from Fifa saying the preparations were well on track.
