COUNCILLORS have become the target of communities that want to vent their anger at local governments for a lack of service delivery.

COUNCILLORS have become the target of communities that want to vent their anger at local governments for a lack of service delivery.

As a result the poor councillors live in fear that their houses might be burnt down and their families attacked by angry residents.

Councillors should partly shoulder responsibility for these challenges.

Had these councillors met and engaged their communities, I doubt if they would be living in fear in their own areas.

But no one has the right to burn down and vandalise public property. This is a criminal act.
