SWIFT reaction by members of the police crime prevention unit in Limpopo yesterday led to the arrest of a Zimbabwean man with a stolen truck believed to be destined for his home country.

Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said the truck was stolen in Randfontein in the West Rand .

Ramatseba said the truck was stopped at the Capricorn toll gate along the N1 between Polokwane and Louis Trichardt. It was then taken to the Bandelierskop police station.

A 29-year-old Zimbabwean man who was driving the truck was arrested, he said.

"According to our information the truck was hijacked in Randfontein and was on its way to Zimbabwe," Ramatseba said.

He said the arrested man would appear in the Botlokwa periodical court today.

"We believe the arrest of the man and subsequent confiscation of the truck is a major breakthrough in our fight against crime," he said.

The truck is worth about R1,5million, he said.

Ramatseba commended constables Rendani Nelushe and Desmond Ralidzhivha for the arrest. - Frank Maponya
