ISTANBUL - US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner is urging the International Monetary Fund to implement reforms that will give emerging markets and developing countries more say in the financial institution.

In a statement yesterday Geithner noted that G-20 countries had committed to shifting some control in the IMF from countries with strong representation to those with little input.

Speaking during an annual meeting Geithner said the IMF should now provide scenarios of how the proposed change could be implemented. - Sapa-AP
