NEW kid on the block Benfistoz beguiled revellers with his sleek dance moves at the MTN Onkweni Royal Cultural Festival at Ulundi Stadium on Saturday.

NEW kid on the block Benfistoz beguiled revellers with his sleek dance moves at the MTN Onkweni Royal Cultural Festival at Ulundi Stadium on Saturday.

Despite being a novice in the kwaito and house genres, Benfistoz grabbed the attention of music fans and had them on their feet.

His song Batho Pele, which encourages public servants to be more committed, had the audience begging for more.

Grammy winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo then took the audience down memory lane with brilliant songs such as Nomathemba.

Maskandi star Thokazani Langa also did not disappoint the audience of people from his home town and gospel star S'fiso Ncwane gave blessings to all his fans.

Jazz musician Madala Kunene and top groups from outside South Africa also performed with great style.

Bongi Dube set the stage on fire with her sizzling performance and had fans pining to dance with her.

Metro FM DJ Siyanda and Ukhozi FM DJ S'gqemeza were among the people that pulled in the crowd to Ulundi Stadium.

L'vovo Derango did not disappoint, celebrating the life of late Prince Shingane, a war veteran who contributed to building the Zulu nation.

The aim of the event, which was part of Heritage Month, was to create awareness about history and African culture.

MTN vice-president Tim Rowry said it was important for people to "preserve their culture".

He said MTN had committed itself to support more cultural events in the future.
