THERE are still those who are very dismissive and don't want to accept that the tripartite alliance, led by the ANC, is in charge of the government. They don't understand the dichotomy between the allies.

THERE are still those who are very dismissive and don't want to accept that the tripartite alliance, led by the ANC, is in charge of the government. They don't understand the dichotomy between the allies.

I also note that every time the matter comes up they become subjective and personal.

As, for instance, when they refer to the Left having taken over. Anyway, had the Left taken over, what would be the problem since the Left is part of the alliance?

At the Cosatu national congress the general-secretary of the SACP made it clear when he said "the Left hasn't left, the Right has left". It has struck me that the people who always complain about who is in charge are not disciplined forces of the Left but divisive anarchists.

At the same congress the ANC president raised the issue of people who meet in corners to discuss leadership succession rather than concentrating on service delivery.

They don't believe that the class project was defeated in Polokwane. They don't believe that Gwede Mantashe is general-secretary of the ANC. They don't believe that Rob Davies is a minister and many other comrades from the party are in the Cabinet on an ANC ticket.

What shocks me most is that when there is an election the same people want the people whom they do not accept as true leaders of the working class to assist them in campaigning.

What is it that Blade Nzimande, Mantashe, Davies and many other leaders of the party have done for the revolution? The ANC is the organisation of the masses. It is a broad church.

They must stop antagonising the leadership of the SACP as if they don't belong to the ANC. They are there because the movement wanted them to serve the people of this country through their great credentials.

Matankana Mothapo,

SACP - media liaison officer, Cosatu House
