Lovett, 22, tested positive for steroids after his 10-round loss to Thomas "Tommy Gun" Oosthuizen on July 11.
Lovett, who commands huge support in the south of Johannesburg where he is based, has yet to appear before Boxing SA's disciplinary committee.
Raymond Hack, chairperson of the South African Football Association (Safa) Anti-Doping Commission, told Sowetan yesterday that Drug-Free Sport had written to promoter Rodney Berman, Golden Gloves Promotions and Boxing SA advising them that Lovett cannot fight until he appears before a disciplinary committee.
"Boxing SA is bound by Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency) international regulations. South Africa is a signatory to the Wada code. For any sporting code, if an athlete tests positive and is yet to appear before a disciplinary committee then they are not eligible to participate in any sport," said Hack, who is a lawyer by profession.
Berman said: "I will respect the code and drop Jared Lovett from the tournament."
Lovett was pencilled in to oppose Paraguay's Javier Corrales for the IBO junior heavyweight youth title at Emperors Palace on October 31. "I will wait until this matter is resolved," Berman said.
Lovett, Boxing SA's 2008 prospect of the year, was to make his debut under new trainer Harold Volbrecht after parting ways with Colin Nathan.
Meanwhile, Berman said the IBO lightweight title fight between Zolani "Untouchable" Marali and Mlungisi "The Shark" Dlamini will go ahead as planned on October 31.
